The Ramula-Mwibona and Isulu-Bushiangala deposits are the two main resources that make up the proposed West Kenya Gold Project (“WKGP”), a gold mining development that complies with NI 43-101’s Mineral Resource Estimates. Kisumu, Kenya’s third-largest city and the main urban core in western Kenya, is about an hour’s drive away from these deposits on paved roads.

Project Development Timeline: The completion of the feasibility study, obtaining regulatory approvals, advancing project funding, continuing exploration, and the start of many early works programs are important project milestones in 2025. Significant future value is anticipated to be unlocked by additional early- and mid-stage discoveries at neighbouring satellite deposits that are not yet covered by the feasibility study or life-of-mine (LOM) plan.

Mining Operations

Ramula-Mwibona Deposit: will be developed as an open-pit mining operation ssing a contractor-mining paradigm. All equipment will be provided and run by the mining contractor, but Shanta Gold will continue to be in charge of technical oversight, which includes mine design, planning, geological interpretation, and surveying.
Isulu-Bushiangala Deposits: These deposits, which contain a very high-grade resource, will be mined underground utilising a paste backfilling technique and a mechanised longhole stopping technology. WKGP personnel will be in charge of all underground operations.

Processing: The ore from both deposits will undergo standard gold processing using tried-and-true metallurgical methods, such as carbon-in-leach (CIL) gold extraction, crushing, and milling, which will yield strong recovery rates. The processing capacity will be 840,000 tonnes per year (tpa). In order to limit the environmental impact, tailings will be managed through a single dry-stack tailings storage facility (TSF) lined with HDPE and developed in accordance with international best practices.

Power Supply: The national electrical grid will provide the majority of the operation’s power, but backup diesel generators will be set up to provide a steady supply of electricity in the event of outages or grid instability.

Exploration and Growth: Shanta Gold has more than doubled the overall mineral resources throughout its prospecting licenses since taking over ownership of the West Kenya portfolio in late 2020. The project’s geological potential is still being expanded by ongoing exploration efforts, which also set the groundwork for future expansion beyond the existing mine plan.
